5 Must See November Movies

The movies and announcements just keep coming.  Thinking back to when I was a kid, imagine how mind blowing it would be to know that when I grew up I would live in a world with, Lord of the Rings movies, X-Men movies, a full blown Avengers franchise!  It shakes the 7-year-old chive in me to the core.  This months top release is just another film that I could have never dreamed possible 20+ years ago.  Alright, alright, lets stop fooling around and get into it…

5. Bad Santa 2

Thirteen years after the release of Bad Santa, finally the elusive sequel that has been discussed for years gets its release date.  Billy Bob Thornton reprises his role as belligerent Willie Soke, this time joined by his mother Sunny, played by the always wonderful Kathy Bates.  This sequel is sure to be filled by the alcohol influenced, greedy comedy of the original.

4. Moana

Disney’s newest animated features Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson as Hawaiian demi-god, Maui.  A promised action packed adventure, that by Disney standards is sure to be full of fun and laughs for the whole family.

3. Arrival

The new science fiction film, themed with alien contact on Earth, based off the short story, Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang.  Amy Adams portrays a linguistics professor trying to find a way to communicate with alien spaceships before things get out of hand.  Previews of this film look intriguing, as it looks to be inspired by the deep plots of a Carl Sagan book.

2. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Returning to the magical world of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, the author is taking her first stab at screen writing.  One thing is for sure, the booknerd community is excited.  The first look at how wizarding effects North America, and sure to be full of many mythological creatures.  If nothing else, this film should be a lot of fun.

1. Doctor Strange

This movie looks nutbar!  The next installment of Marvel’s growing cinematic line-up, Doctor Strange is a new approach for the comic-film industry, incorporating a major magic element.  The themes have struggled in comics for a long time, but, so did titles such as Guardians of the Galaxy.  Doctor Strange’s transfer to film should work well, as the imagery looks spectacular, and Benedict Cumberbatch is flawless casting.  If Marvel could make such a great Ant-Man film, this should raise the bar.

Thanks booknerds, can’t wait for next months movie magic.

I’m looking forward to that Fantastic Beasts. I also saw previews for a Trolls movie by DreamWorks, which I want to see just because I used to have those toys when I was a kid.

You will be very pleased with Dr. Strange. As for Moana it is going to be so good. Can’t wait. And Arrival also looks amazing! So many good movies coming out just now. Hopefully they can make up for the lackluster year this has been,
