Sunday Mise en Place (Jan. 9 to 15, ‘017)

Another week and another Mise en Place.  The weekly post where I put everything back in place and get ready for the next week of fantastic blogging.  It has been a fun week for the blog, but also pretty quiet around here, so this may be a quickie today.  But first, I like to keep you up to date with what’s going on…

What’s Going On-

Yesterday marked the 200th post on The Green Onion Blog.  Again, I would like to thank everyone who has come to enjoy this little corner of the big bad web.  There is a lot of things to do with your time on the internet and I appreciate it when people spend time reading my articles.  They say that blogging is dying, but those people obviously don’t know how dedicated, active, and supportive our community is.  Here’s to many more posts!

After a devastatingly cold couple weeks here, we have finally reached the relief of the chinook.  For those of you unfamiliar, a chinook occurs where the mountains meet the Canadian prairies and cause temperatures to raise drastically during winter months.  Caused by moist winds of the Pacific drying out and rushing through the mountains the leeward side of the slopes reap the benefits of the warm winds.  In one day temperatures can go from a blistering negative 20°C to a plus 10° and can clear up 20-30cm’s of snow in seemingly no time.  Sweet, sweet relief.  It’s nice to step outside and not have your face hurt.

Last Weeks Posts-

  • A review on the 1970 Hugo award winning, Sci-Fi staple Ringworld by Larry Niven, is worth a read before reading the book.

I have an ARC review coming up from one of the biggest names in Sci-Fi and blogging.  I thought it was about time we looked at some of the more disappointing movies of ‘016.  I finally delve into my favorite graphic space opera again.   I want to talk about a scantily clad superhero, but it’s not what you will expect.  And, possibly a new Analyzing Character Archetype article but, I cannot guarantee that quite yet.  So, be sure to check in this week as the nerding out continues.

Thanks booknerds, I’m going to go enjoy the nice weather before it suddenly vanishes.
