Wow! This is a special award. Not only is it a wonderful feeling to be appreciated for the work that goes into maintaining a blog but, I was nominated by a blogger that I carry a high regard for. Thank you Zeezee with Books, your site is one of my personal favourites. Even my partner, who is not deep into this community, believes your blog is one of the best and was impressed that you actually read my posts. A nomination on such a meaningful award from you, means a lot, so thank you once more.
For anyone fresh to the Blogger Appreciation Award, a quick recap. This award is mostly an opportunity to give recognition to other bloggers that have an impact on you. Whether one of your favourite sites to read, or an influence, or just someone that deserves a little appreciation. I am proud to say, there are many bloggers that I feel deserve this award. I have read many amazing blogs, made friends across the globe, and there are plenty blogs that I think are plain ol’ awesome. I could be here all day making a massive list of all the unique things that make all the individual blogs great. This is going to be more difficult than first anticipated as I don’t want to leave anyone out. Unfortunately, I cannot mention everyone, so I will limit myself to a few blogs. And if I left you out, you’re secretly my favourite.
There is a long history between our blogs and I couldn’t be more lucky. Not only are they friendly, helpful, kind, sweet, wonderful people. They have an intellectual point of view on one of my favourite topics, graphic novels. What separates them from the many other comic bloggers is their collection. Not limiting themselves to certain brands, genres, or titles, they review a wide range of comic books with an open, unbiased, astute perspective.
I wonder who I talk about most on my blog? My favourite author, Brandon Sanderson. My favourite comic writer, Jeff Lemire. Or, my favourite blogger, Michael J. Miller. Maybe I should start a tally or something to keep track. There is a reason that My Comic Relief sits in such respectable company, and I say it is mostly attributed to one thing that Michael pours into his posts, like mead in Thor’s stein, passion. Michael puts thought, energy, and passion into every single post, and they are all rewarding reads. If you haven’t been to his site, I would set an afternoon aside to catch up from the beginning.
Is there a sweeter person on the internet? Probably not. One of those people in your life that give you an old soul vibe and your grateful just to have them around. Every time I read her posts or see a comment from her it is so kind and genuine. Stephanie, ah well, Stephanie is just a friggin’ sweetheart.
I love the way Lindsay writes. She is honest, funny, and real. She is one of those people that have hilarious insights on everything. You need to post more often Lindsay! I seriously could read her writing all the time, and finding out she has a new post is like a little gift.
If there was one nerd in our blogging community I could sit and play some D&D with, it would have to be Rob. Reading his posts is like taking a trip down memory lane. Reminiscing on all the nerdy things that defined our generation. And he writes like that, it feels like that, like I am sitting with my buddy talking about our old favourite games, toys and cartoons. But now we’re old, and adulting gets in the way so we have to talk about these things on the internet.
Jeffrey is doing it all for us. Collecting all of the information, research, and reading on something that is important to us all… Star Wars. I for one am grateful for the Imperial Talker for giving me many insights on the galaxy far, far away. And sure, there are plenty of Star Wars sites and blogs out there, but Jeffrey handles it with care, he is not a pretentious Star Wars snob like many others and, he is having fun. I mean who else out there is taking the time to make haiku’s about droids.
The gem of our community. I don’t know how she does it but, Danielle pours so much time and dedication into reading, commenting, and sharing the best posts in the blogosphere. And that is amidst her composing plenty of her own in depth reviews. She is a natural talent for this blogging thing and there are so many bloggers that would agree she deserves some appreciation.
Between Jason and Keith Noakes I am always up-to-date on all the latest trailers and releases. Jason has a very astute view on film that I appreciate reading. Jason has earned my respect on his reviews, through almost a year of reading his posts I have come to trust what he has to say and I take his views into account when picking my next movie night. Also, Jason is another blogger that is highly involved in the community and you can rely on him to be honest.
I have been a fan of Gretchen for awhile, and now she is approaching the release of her first poetry book. I couldn’t be more excited for her. I respect her effort and taking the chance on this book. That is amazing and she is doing what many of us dream of. So, thanks Gretchen for being such an inspiration.
Okay, okay, okay, I have to stop somewhere and 1000 words seems like a good sign I should stop. So…
Thanks booknerds, for being amazing!
