Sunday Mise en Place (May 22 to 28, ‘017)

Saturday’s are for the boys.  Sunday’s are for the blogs.  Happy long weekend to my American friends.  Strangely enough, us Canadians enjoyed our May long last weekend.  Our nations couldn’t coordinate that so we could all get together and party at the border?  Wait, no, I’m mad at you guys and this time its not your elected leaders fault.  The last Canadian team in the playoffs, the Ottawa Senators got knocked out this week.  It is getting real frustrating watching American teams stacked with Canadian boys continuously win Canada’s most coveted trophy year in and year out.  Anyways, disappointment aside, we can all still enjoy a good Sunday Mise en Place (*mess en plahs*), where I get to talk about, well, pretty much anything.  A bit of blog, a bit of fun, and a bit of what’s going on.  So…

What’s Going On-

Friends, family, peers, followers, and random acquaintances, I got a problem.  I have a real addiction issue, and this week I have fallen off the wagon.  I couldn’t help myself, and I have succumbed to the cravings.  I’m a user, a user of Scrabble.  The classic word game has always been a favourite of mine as I carry an uncanny ability to put the letters together.  When friends were lost to the World of Warcraft or online gambling, I was playing online Scrabble.  My real world friends have refused to play me for almost a decade, due to my natural dominance.  I was forced into early retirement, and was able to kick the habit.  Unfortunately, recently, I have re-downloaded the game to my phone.  Last I counted I had 33 games going… I’m a mess.

Other than that, I’ve had a good week.  As I mentioned, last week was our long weekend, and we took advantage.  We made it to the flea market and found some treasures.  Purchased some water guns, and had an epic family water fight.  Which concluded with Zyler in a pool of water, and Jenn pulling out the hose on me.  We did ice cream, parks, we even made it downtown for a stroll, which is rare, but a great adventure for the kids.  The weather has been great- well, we did get a bit of snow the other day, but that was a freak storm- and the kids are getting worn out from me forcing them to spend time outside.  I’ve had an abundance of energy, been doing lots- despite the Scrabble addiction- it was a good week.

As for the blog, I was pleasantly surprised this week when I checked some numbers.  One of my posts, The Slaughter at Fraggle Rock, reached 500 views this week.  Impressively demolishing any other post.  It’s one of my personal favourites so I am ecstatic, even though I have no idea how it had such a reach.

Last Weeks Posts-

  • I have a new favourite Brandon Sanderson novella.  Here’s my review of the wonderful Sixth of the Dusk.
  • It’s been a while since I did a straight up top 10.  Be sure to check out last weeks Top 10 Robot Sidekicks.
  • A new Choice Cuts went up this week. With news on Dark Crystal, Squirrel Girl, and bad dates.

Upcoming-

Been diving into a few graphic novels lately, and you can look forward to some fresh comic reviews.  More importantly, it’s the end of May.  Meaning, we will take a look at next months blockbusters- and there’s some goodies.  Then we will dive into a historic pop culture recap for the month of June.  Been working on a couple other things, but I am not sure if this will be there week or not.  There’s only one way to find out, check back in to the G.O.B., or at least swing by next Sunday and get your fill.  Because…

Sunday’s for the blogs.

Thanks booknerds.
