Father’s Day Mise en Place (June 12 to 18, ‘017)

Happy Father’s Day to, well… to me.  More importantly, to my amazing father, who does too much for everyone else.  And all the fathers, grandpas, uncles, and dudes in a fatherly role.  The kids are off having some quality time with Grandpa right now, so let’s get moving on this Sunday’s Mise en Place.  The weekly post on the G.O.B. that’s a bit about what’s coming and going on the blog, and a bit about what’s going on with me.  What is going on?

What’s Going On-

Went to see Tool on Monday.  Only one of the coolest bands in the world, no big deal.  Jenn and I had an amazing time, and I got to see a bunch of old friends.  I don’t want to go in to much detail as Eric and I have decided to podcast our individual experiences by recording our conversation about the show.  We will be pushing to start releasing such things by next month.

As for the blog, yeah, I took it pretty easy this week, only getting two posts out.  Honestly, there’s been a lot going on lately.  With my teenage niece staying here, but also, the kids are almost done school, and Jenn is heading back to school full-time in September, we are trying to re-structure our entire family schedule and situation.  There has been a heavy focus on practical logistics and family stability.  So yeah, took it easy on the posting, but don’t worry, I’m fine and the G.O.B. will be back to regularly scheduled programming soon enough.

I’ve been harassing Zyler all week about what he’s planned for father’s day, the kid was a rock, insistent that he had nothing planned, he’s hilarious.  Alex took me to her pre-school on Thursday for a concert which you can find here, or on my social media, she’s adorable.  This morning I got woken with all the wonderful art projects and cheesy cards, my kids are fantastic.  My brother and family came by for a big breakfast for our father.  I cooked up a couple stratas which were delicious, but also a terrible idea.  I have an ovo-intolerance and right now these eggs are not happy in my stomach.  Oh, the pains we go through for delicious food.  Great father’s day brunch either way.

Oh and new Twitter- I hate you.

Last Weeks Posts-

  • My long overdue review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns finally went up this week.  I think I made the right choice of not reviewing as much as geeking right out.

What do I have coming down the pipes?  Let’s see.  There is the second part of the great Canadian duels happening soon.  Also, I’ve been toying with the idea of composing something for Canada’s upcoming marijuana legislation.  I want to do a straight up kidlit review still.  Been toying with the idea of revisiting some of my early reviews from a year ago.  There’s some things I’d like to clean up, and redo, how do y’all feel about that?  And as always, who knows what the Green Onion will come up with next, only one way to find out, keep coming back for more.

Thanks booknerds, and bookdads.

Happy Father’s Day!! Sounds like it was a pretty great one for you.
I bought my dad ice cream. He’s very fit and all about health and wellness, but ice cream is his weakness. As his daughter, I had to torture him. Haha!
