The school year is wrapping up.  And what a year, Alex has come so far with her preschool learning all sorts of things about Canada, letters, numbers, and, well, getting along with others.  Zyler is on his last couple days of grade one.  I have to tell you, that was an amazing year to watch as a parent.  Being able to see his reading progress from nothing to chapter books in 10 months is a gratifying experience.  More so, he has learned to write.  He may not love it the way his father does yet, but the fact that he is able to do it is amazing.  One day you are cleaning poop off these kids, the next they are reading you books.

In the latter half of the school year Zyler’s class started a writing program, where each week they would sit for half an hour and write any thing they chose.  We set time aside on Sundays for this and often he would write about his weekend.  But, as the school year is all but done I was looking through his work book and found some entertaining stuff in there.  So, I figured my son can write now, it’s time he got his own spot on his fathers blog.  I have selected three of my favourite works to share with you, and hopefully he will feel more obliged to create some new work for you over the summer.

Without any more delay, here are three short works by Zyler, age 6:

The Mistery of bigFoot

Big foot was walking throo the forist with TNT.  He lit one and throo it at the city.  A home bloo up!  They came to him and put him in a cage.  Locked him up and put him in the zoo.  Big foot was mad because he was not in the forist.  He still had TNT.  He lit one and got away.

The Master Hero

One day a man had a hot dog.  He felt weerd and turned into a hero.  His name was the MindeMan.  And a bad guy was cald Doctor Mad Man.  He shoots lazer ise.  And MindeMan moovs things with his mind.  Now they are fiteing.  MindeMan won and Doctor Mad Man said “I will be back.”

Soccer Weekend

On the weekend we were in the backyard and playd soccer.  My Dad hidded the ball to hard.  I got hert.  I got up and 2 minits later I got hert again.  I got hert again 3 minits later.  I stop’d playing and play’d with my sister.  We play’d on the swing and kicked the soccer ball to the fense.  Alex did it to.  Mom came home.  We went to the park.  We play’d tennis.  I got the balls for my mom and dad.  It was soooooooooooooOoooo! CoollLL.  Like sooooo cool yo ho!

Thanks booknerds, I hope you enjoyed this future authors original work.

It has been one of the best experiences as a parent thus far. I’d love to hold onto it and look back at these years. Artwork is a different tale, there is so much of it you have to get choosy on whats worth keeping

I love this!! It brings back memories of the notebooks that I used to keep, where I’d make up stories and adventures for hours. Thanks for putting a big smile on my face!

  4. This made my day 🙂 I have thought about trying to convince my son to let me post his stories. I hope that there was no one in the home that Big Foot blew up when he throo the tnt 😉
