Alexandra’s Top 5 at Age 5

Last year, on this day in particular, I started a special series to commemorate the special birthdays in our home.  Well, we’ve gone full circle.  Today our beautiful, energetic, often crazy daughter hits the half a decade mark.  5 years old sounds so much older than 4, I mean the girl starts kindergarten this year!  Anyways, I am going to ask her to pick her 5 favourite books, as of today, let’s see how this has changed and grown from her choices last year.  Which I am expecting a big difference because the last few months we have been pushing chapter books on her.  Also, to add to the birthday series, I thought this year I would add 5 favourite movies!  So, Alex, what do you like?

Pete the Cat

He actually walks and stuff…and being cute.

Captain Underpants

The one with the talking toilets.  Yum yum eat em up, yum yum eat em up- wait that’s from the Cap’n Underpants movie we watched?

Fairy Animals of Misty Wood: Paddy the Puppy

The one with the clouds that drift across the sky like wisps of cotton candy?

Yeah, its cute.

The Beauty and the Beast

We don’t own that book?

I saw it at the bookstore, I liked it.  Can we get it?

Fortunately, The Milk

I just liked it.

Well, what else?

There was Vampires.

What about movies?  What are your 5 favourite movies?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Cause it has Baby Groot.

What else did you like about it?

Umm, the hand over the ball.  When Starlord got attacked.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Cause I happen to really like Spider-Man, I think he is really cool.

Cause Poppy is in there.  It’s the happiest show, and I like that show.  I keep it a secret, it’s my favourite.

The Lorax

It has the song “let it grow *mumble mumble* use your heart- let it show. *mumble mumble* celebrate the world, celebrate the world- grow!…”

Haha- you’ve never seen Gremlins.

I just heard of it.

Thanks booknerds, that’s my girl!

My daughter is going to be 5 in November so I’ll have to find some of these books for her. Thanks for listing these from one dad to another.

  2. Happy Birthday Alex! Enjoy your day! Good luck getting the Beauty and the Beast book too. For what it’s worth, I think you totally deserve it. It is your birthday after all!

Haha, Jenn has a Gizmo stuffy, so Alex sees it and assumes the movie will be all cute and cuddly. One day
