Sunday Mise en Place (July 23 to 30, 017)

Today is the day… Sunday, just a regular Sunday, but it is a day. This week has been full, so I’m just going to jump right in on the blog news, Plog news, what’s new, and what will be new too. And as per usual, let’s kick it off with what’s been going on-

What’s Going On-

Jenn had an amazing time in San Francisco this week! She came back with some fantastic pictures, some great stories, and loaded with new information. She did make it to some highlights, like Haith St. and Alcatraz, unfortunately no Full House house for me, she did get a postcard of it for me. She loved the whole city and the experience.

While stuck at home with two bored kids on summer vacation, I decided to do something spontaneous and crazy. I had the kid’s and car packed up, and we were off camping in Kananasikis Country. One of the most beautiful mointain landscapes Alberta has to offer. May I offer this example of what I woke up to the other morning-

Me vs. two kids vs. the wild didn’t go as bad as it might sound. And, despite Jenn’s intercontinental travel, she was pretty jealous of our camping trip. So in a double act of spontaneity this week, we went camping again, with the whole family. This time do to fire bans we had to head further north. Right at the junction of Banff National Park, and Jasper National Park, we found a beautiful place called Thompson Creek where we settled in for a couple days. The highlight without a doubt was the Athabasca Ice fields. Exhibit B-

Plog coming…

Last Weeks Posts-

First off a big thank you to all the nice comments and support I received this week, kicking off the new G.O.B. series, Deconstructed.

  • First up was a look at the Fantastic Four classic, This Man… This Monster by the legends themselves Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
  • Then came a more modern tale featuring the Joker, in Robin #85. Where Batman supposedly died…
  • Deconstructed went to the 80’s with an original Hobgoblin tale in The Amazing Spider-Man #244.

I’m making the podcast happen this week, that’s that. Plus, going forward, not only can you look forward to a Mise en Place, once a week, now you can look for a Deconstructed on…, I don’t know which day yet, I may play around a bit. Then, it’s the end of one month, start of another, we will get into what to get excited about, and what makes August so awesome. Lot’s going on this week, be sure to check in soon.

Thanks booknerds, and happy campers.

Your photos are stunning! My husband and I are plotting our next set of travel plans – Taking Amtrak up to New York next August when I turn 30, and then we’d love to take the train up the Pacific coast!

Thanks, I was glad I could capture some of the beauty, they came out really nice. You totally should travel up the coast, I lived on Vancouver Island for a while before moving back to this side of the mountains. Biasedly, some of the most gorgeous places on the planet.

Wow, I really live in the wrong part of the galaxy, these scenes are breath taking! They look so clean and untouched by humans (except of course for your youngster being in shot). One day if I get rich I’ll have to come over and see these places for myself. Great articles over the past week, especially the Spidey deconstruction. Thanks.
