Well, I gotta say, this year in movies so far has been glorious. There has been plenty of memorable outings, specifically in the comic film industry. As we round out summer things tend to slow down a bit, getting into the school season. That’s not to say there isn’t anything worth seeing. Quite to the contrary, shall we have a look at the 5 big movies hitting us in August?
Nut Job 2
Honestly, I loved the first Nut Job, I believe it was highly underrated. I mean kids deserve a good heist story too, am I right? If this children’s sequel can pull off much of the same plot and action of the first, than this movie will be a definite must see. Or it will be just another children’s movie sequel, and we will all hate it.
I have been hearing so many good things about this adult heist movie starring Channing Tatum and Adam Driver. From the same minds that brought us the modern Ocean’s Eleven, hopefully this film pulls off much of that same magic.
This dark, indie horror about werewolves has all the shape to be a good creeper. Werewolves have gotten a bad wrap since the height of Twilight, hopefully this one can bring back the allure from movies like Ginger Snaps, and Brotherhood of the Wolf.
The creepiest little doll- other than Slappy- is back in a second prequel. This time the story seems to focus on the doll maker that built Annabelle and the girl who haunts the form. If this movie can bring half the fear of the first, or a quarter of The Conjuring, than were in for a screamer.
Finally here, after push back, after push back. Stephen King’s epic fantasy finally begins to hit the big screen and take life. Unsure of which elements of the big story this movie will focus on, there is plenty of great moments to capture. There are plenty of reasons to get excited about this one.
Thanks booknerds, take a day off at the theatre, will you?
