Canada Day Mise en Place (June 25 to July 1, ‘018)

Happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian friends. This is a year worth celebrating. Sure, the big 150 happened last year, and we failed to capture Olympic hockey gold this winter, but we’ve learnt a lot this year. The most significant thing we can be proud of today is that we’re not the US. We’re learning that this big brother Canada has had might not be as cool as we thought. He actually has a lot of issues, and we can start disassociating ourselves with him and start focusing on ourselves again. We should feel good about that, plus all that legal cannabis should make things a lot more fun.

What’s Going On-

Well, most the good stuff is going to happen later today as the kids and I head down to the Canada Day celebrations. After a forecast saying today would be rainy all week long, now that it’s here it doesn’t look so bad out. We can just hope it keeps up like this so we can catch some fireworks tonight.

Summer vacation has officially started with the kids having their last day of school last Tuesday. Their report cards were great, they had a magnificent year. Zyler continues to impress me as every semester since kindergarten he has improved to the point where I could not expect better grades out of the kid. It’s a good feeling for a parent knowing your child exceeded expectations and strives to do better.

I would also like to send a huge shout out to an amazing friend. I was having a pretty tough week emotionally as everything that has happened this month finally caught up with me. It can be hard to recognize when we’re not doing well and even tougher to ask for help. We all need to know we have friends we can depend on during the difficult times, someone to talk to and work through our fears and anguish. Eric was there for me at the drop of a hat this week and wouldn’t let me feel bad about it for a second. Thanks for being there, man. And, if everybody needed another reason to check out his new blog, Zor Entertainment, being a good person should be enough.

Last Week’s Posts-

Plenty coming down the pipe as we mark the return of Green Onion top tens, a pop culture history lesson this week, and some fresh reviews. I am also waiting to launch another weekly series that I am really excited about. Additionally, I have been getting back to a couple bigger projects that have been on the back burner and the creative process is proving to be quite therapeutic. Right now though, I gotta watch the rest of the Spain-Russia match and get ready to take the kids to celebrate Canada Day.
