Happy September! This is my season and I love it. The sun is in my sign, the weather is chilling out, and everything can settle down after the summer. And this has been an exceptionally wild summer. Just like the leaves, I’m in for change, and by getting rid of old blockages there is room for growth allowing me to be stronger than ever. That’s a lot of pressure for a month that is designated by nothing more than a calendar, but what it represents and the energy I give it helps to create some positive intentions. Yeah, September is a great time.
What’s Going On-
You may have noticed that there were no new posts on The Green Onion Blog this week. This was intentional as I just needed some time to recalibrate. The little break just fits with the season change and getting myself prepared for moving forward. Things will be back to normal – well, what is normal?
The G.O.B. has always been moderately free-form, and I am starting to appreciate that idea more. While comics are great, and I love dissecting a good story, it is just a small piece of who I am. I have limited myself by focusing so hard on that concept and closing other ideas off. It’s a good example of the barriers I need to break down to allow room for growth. Heading forward I will put away with theme and expectation and allow the creativity to take me where it will. I suppose it will transition into more of a lifestyle blog, a lifestyle that happens to include a comic book nerd.
Oh, how stoked I am for school to start this week! Weeks of having to entertain and appease my son, as well behaved as he is, has taken a toll. Having the weekdays to myself is going to be a dream. I can work without trying to make sure he’s not just on his computer the whole time – which makes me look super hypocritical. I can do something as simple as go to the grocery store without it being twice as complicated as it needs to be. September is great.
This all carries a general theme of allowing myself to be. It can be so easy to get wrapped up in life’s little nuances instead of letting things be what they are. It is invaluable to go with the flow of the days, weeks, months and years. I’ve carried too much with me, it’s time for some fresh perspective. Letting go of old blockages and making room for new growth.
Last Week’s Posts-
Though The Green Onion Blog may have been quiet there is still quite a bit that has gone down as far as my writing is concerned. It’s been a big week for my career. There are some cool things going on, some I can’t announce yet, but some that are finally coming to fruition. Check this out:
- Being a Dad is a great new parenting site that focuses on changing the stigma of what a father is. This platform is exciting and fits me perfectly. I have been working with them for months and it is finally here! Check out my first article here, I wrote it forever ago, but there are lots of great pieces on the way.
- It’s been a cool week on Bubbleblabber. Besides the monthly Rick and Morty comic review, I also got to start the new Rick and Morty vs Dungeons and Dragons comic. It happens to be written by one of my all-time favourite authors. Plus, I got the chance to do my second interview ever! Read my interview with the creators of the new Netflix series Paradise P.D., here.
As I mentioned, things are going to be a little more free-form on the blog going forward. There are some things coming as scheduled like must-see movies, pop culture history month, and comic reviews I am backed up on. But, I am excited to bring you on more of a personal journey of what excites me, when it excites me. And, yet another site I’ve been working with is launching this week, keep an eye out, this one is fun. This is going to be a good week for setting a new writing routine, hopefully, it means lots of fresh content.
Thanks for reading. I hope everyone is as excited for September as I am. Just go with the flow, set good intentions, and you’re going to do great.
