Sunday Mise en Place (Nov. 26 to Dec. 2, ‘018)

Here we are rolling into the last month of a devastatingly tough year. I hate this year and am very much looking forward to time moving forward and doing that healing thing. December is also the month of family love and joy and what-not. My kids are very much excited for the holiday season, of course, launching this weekend with advent calendars. Maybe they are a little too excited. This morning my daughter was panicking that we forgot to open her advent calendar today. It was 7 AM and I literally just got out of bed.

What’s Going On-

Well, it has been a solid couple of weeks of developing healthy routines and self-care. I’ve been jiving on the goal of working on myself more than anything else every day. Setting goals and pushing myself is all well and good, but creating those habits is where change comes from. However, as we all quickly learn, life has a way of interfering. And, this week, my attention has been sideswiped by yet another development in family court.

For those of you who don’t know the background, five years ago my son and I left a relationship with his biological mother in which we were both being abused. I have had Zyler fully in my care since. But, not without struggle. We have been in and out of court over twenty times as I battle for my sons’ safety and stability. There have been a lot of developments in this story that would take forever to explain. You’ll just have to wait until I write that book. The long story short right now is I am heading back to court on Tuesday for another round. And, I got sent an affidavit from her last week in which she denies nearly everything has happened. Obviously, this has taken a lot of my time and attention.

Last Week’s Posts –

  • Last week I dropped the third instalment of the Sock Golem blog post trilogy. It also happens to connect with a series that I’ve wanted to start for a long time. Check out How to Cook Sock Golems, there is a great recipe included.
  • It feels like forever since I dropped a book review. But, I couldn’t pass up reading and talking about Brandon Sanderson’s latest release, Skyward.

Upcoming –

As part of building fresh new habits, I fully intend to get back on the blogging train. There would have been more this week, but we talked about where my attention went. Well, after I deal with that, you can look forward to The Green Onion Blog getting back into things. I have lots of ideas piled up from the last few months, and you can expect a lot of my lighthearted humour posts coming out soon.

Thanks for reading, keep fighting this week.
